The trail starts at the Ripan car park and goes to the boathouse on the northeast shore of Öjön. There is a wind shelter where you can rest and enjoy the beautiful scenery – the rolling mountains, “the lake of a thousand islands” and the silhouette of Helags to the west. The shoreline has rich vegetation, including starry saxifrage, yellow saxifrage and different types of willow.
If you want to take a boat trip and perhaps try to catch one of Öjön’s tasty char, you can book a boat and buy a fishing permit at the Ljungdalsfjällen tourist office. You can spend a whole day on the lake if the weather is good and the fish are biting.
Then walk the same route back to the car park.
